Check in and check out
Check in at The Harper is from 4pm.
Check out (alas, all good things come to an end) is 11am.
Children
While we welcome all ages, it’s worth noting that The Harper is a place for grown-up pursuits, and is therefore not designed for children. There are no children’s facilities or children’s menus, though the chef will be happy to whisk something up. We ask that children under 12 are accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Children under 16 must be accompanied – and supervised at all times – by a responsible adult when using the pool and spa facilities, and are not permitted to use the hot tub, steam room or sauna.
When making a room booking, a child rate applies to children aged 3-16 at the time of the stay. A toddler is classed as an infant up to the age of 3, sleeping in a cot free of charge. If you’d like a travel cot in your room (subject to availability), simply select in the ‘Extras’ section of the booking process.
If you’re bringing children you’ll be pleased to know that we have two sets of adjoining rooms, so you can enjoy peace of mind without the kids getting under your feet. Adjoining rooms have one room with a king-size bed which connects to a room with twin beds, ideal for children old enough for their own space (within earshot!). The twin rooms sleep up to 2 people. For younger children, you might like to choose our spacious Family Room which sleeps four, or our Biggest Family Cottage which sleeps eight.
Dogs
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Harper, so if your four-legged friend falls into this category, you’ll be pleased to hear that dog-friendly rooms are available. If you’ve a pet allergy it’s important you’re aware of this before booking.
Dogs are permitted in The Bar, The Yard, and Ivy’s although we don’t allow them in Stanley’s. There is a £25 charge per room, per night, and beds (for your dog, of course) are available on request. We politely ask that you use the ‘Dog & Boot’ (around the corner to the left of the main entrance) to wash muddy paws before entering – towels are also provided.

The Harper is a a place where we want you to feel entirely at home here. Although we don’t permit non-residents to use the hotel’s spa or pool, you’re very welcome to bring up to 4 of your own guests into the hotel, and you are responsible for each of your guests while they’re with us.

If yours is an electric vehicle, you’ll be pleased to know there are Tesla and PodPoint chargers in the car park exclusively for guests. For PodPoint chargers there is a fee of £0.99p per kWh your car is connected to the charger, even if it’s already fully charged, so please do remember to move your car promptly to allow other guests to use it. We cannot accept liability for loss or damage caused to any vehicle (or its contents).
